About Cowichan and Duncan

The Cowichan Valley is located midway between Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island . The Island is situated in British Columbia on Canada’s beautifully rugged West Coast. The name “Cowichan” means “warm land”, or “land warmed by the sun” in the local First Nations language.

The Cowichan Valley is abundant in attractions and natural resources. It is surrounded by scenic mountains and forests, and home to some of the worlds best hiking and cycling. There is never a shortage of fun, educational, relaxing or adventurous activities to add to your memorable vacation experience!

For the more adventurous, sports and activities include white water kayaking, extreme downhill cycling on many mountain trails, or, if you would rather not ride down the mountain you can go hang gliding and jump off instead.
