Inflatable kayaking is a growing sport, providing adventure seekers the opportunity to kayak a river without any previous experience. The kayaks are extremely stable and are designed as "sit-on-top" so there is no fear of becoming trapped in a cockpit, as there is no cockpit.

 We provide tours for ages as young as 8, up to Senior "young at heart" adventurers!
Our guests are amazed at the stability of the kayaks, and of how safe and secure they feel.

The following scenic all-inclusive tours allow you to experience the Cowichan Valley's emerald jewel...The Heritage Cowichan River. Nestled among mossy forests and towering rock bluffs you may even catch a glimpse of bear, eagles, beaver, river otter and much more! Once you have accomplished the basics in the safe use of your kayak and gear, an experienced guide will lead you on down the river. Enjoy a chance to snorkel in clear, deep pools, and challenge yourself with running a few rapids or learning to swim in the current. All rapids can be walked around if you are nervous, or they can be run twice if you are feeling feisty! All of the tours include beverages and a gourmet lunch, featuring delicious locally made food, return transportation from Elk Ridge Estate, and all the gear you need to keep you safe and warm!

What to Bring (For Tours and Lessons)

Warm weather - Bathing suit and towel, fleece or wool sweater for underneath paddling jacket
Cold weather- Fleece or wool sweater and pants for underneath dry suit.
Recommended- sunscreen, waterproof camera, and sunglasses with strap.

Gear Provided (For Tours and Lessons)
Dry suit or wetsuit, booties, pogies (to keep hands warm), skull cap (for underneath your helmet) paddling jacket, PFD, helmet, paddle, kayak and all safety gear.

 Canyon Tours (Full Day, or 1/2 Day)
These tours explore the exceptional scenery and whitewater of the Cowichan River Canyon.
We believe it is the most beautiful section of river and becomes much less challenging as the warm summer weather arrives in July to September. In May-June and October-November, this section of river offers something more for the adventurous with exhilarating whitewater! We start at the base of Skutz Falls where you will view the fish ladders, enjoy lunch on a beach paradise, and take out at the Stoltz Pool Picnic area, famous for it's fishing and wildflowers. Be aware that there are slippery rocks and possible portages due to low water levels. Full day tours are approximately 6 hours long (4 hours on river) with a riverside lunch, and Barbeque dinner at the end of the trip back at Elk Ridge Estate. The Half-day tours are approximately 4 hours long,
(2 hours on river) followed by a gourmet lunch back at Elk Ridge Estate.

This tour is perfect for those who would like a calmer river experience, or who are a bit nervous of river

2 Day "Intro to White Water Kayaking" Course
Experience the thrill of learning to white water kayak, a growing sport for outdoor enthusiasts!
Not only is it fun, social, and great exercise, but it also allows you to explore sections of river you would not see otherwise. Your experienced instructors know how to create a safe and empowering environment that provides challenges and skills to enhance your experiences.
This course provides you with two intense days of skill learning! Experienced instructors will guide you through everything you need to know to have an enjoyable whitewater kayaking experience. We start off in a flat-water lake where you will learn about the unique aspects of the whitewater kayak and specialized gear, edging and control, as well as paddle strokes used to maneuver your boat. Once you are comfortable in flat water we will take you to the river, starting in calm water where you will learn the skills of ferrying, eddy turns, river hydrology, hazards and scouting techniques. Day 2 allows you to use your skills in a full river run in moving current and enjoy the incredible river scenery. A gourmet lunch is provided along with return transportation from Elk Ridge Estate. Each day is approximately 8 hrs including transportation, lunch break and lesson time. Lake and river choices may vary according to the water levels.
